Today was the first discussion group meeting. The meeting started with a discussion of the ground rules. Listen respectfully. Don't interrupt. No Boorish behavior. A brief chat about what we wanted the kids to get out of the group. Listening so that your mind is open to new ideas. Disagreeing without hurting people's feelings. Etc. 2 of the kids were sick so they were not in attendance. Today's group was 6 boys and my Little Miss M. It is not easy to be the only girl but she did great.
All the kids did great with their presentations. I think they all learned something new about their friends. They did pretty well with the objective of not interrupting and listening respectfully. After the first couple of kids went they started to warm up to asking questions of each other. Once they all had a turn it was lunch and then free play for the afternoon.
All in all, a good day.
