Structural Engineering Class
Today the kids took the first in a series of 4 classes on Structural Engineering. It is being taught by a homeschool mom who is a Structural Engineer. In class they learned some basics. For example, 2 of the 3 little pigs were not very good engineers. Can you guess which 2? After going over some terminology and what is a structure the kids went outside for about 20 minutes to look at structures. The swing set, branches, a bench are a few of the structures found. Afterwards they went back into the house where they broke up into teams. Little Miss M is the client. She is opening an ice cream shop in Queens, NY (I do not know why she picked Queens). 3 floors dedicated to ice cream. Mister B and one of Little Miss's friends are the builders. They will need to come up with some ideas on how to build Little Miss M's dream ice cream palace. The next class is in 2 weeks. It should be interesting.
