That said, what is more exciting than a man wielding a chain saw. He is all the way in the back behind the swing set. M-was psyched to see it in action.
B was a bit more daring, he went a few steps closer. Mom, that's me, kept warning them to get back so they did not get a wood chip in the eye.
It was a little difficult to concentrate on schoolwork while that machine was grinding away but we muddled through. B-continued working on cubic foot measurements and learned a bit about Immigration today. Then he observed his science experiment. Growing a kidney bean in the light and the dark and seeing if the position of the seed makes a difference in root growth. M-worked on skip counting by 6 and beginning fractions. Learned about identifying the subject noun and the predicate verb (thus giving me a chance to sing "Verb-that's what's happening" from school house rock). We continued our reading about the Hudson River. Today was about the toxic dumping during the industrial growth in Upstate NY.
After all the excitement of the stump grinding and the Peanuts comics they read for Independent Reading we headed out for a game of mini-golf. Other than the big sulk at the end because M lost (she always loses in the world according to M) it was a lot of fun.
