Liberty Science Center Part 2

We returned for part 2 of our class in energy and motion at the Liberty Science Center.

Here they are using hand crank generators to light up a light bulb. Afterward, they linked them together and made a motor.

Here is a little video clip of the light bulbs.

After the generators they went up to the energy quest exhibit to do a little research on different types of energy: Solar, wind, fossil fuel, water, geothermal, nuclear.

Here is B checking out the fossil fuel exhibit.

M checking out using the tides

Then they learned Newton's Laws of Physics. 1. An object at rest will stay at rest (unless acted upon from an outside force). 2. An object in motion will stay in motion (unless acted upon by an outside force). 3. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Plus, a little Galileo-gravity pulls everything down at the same rate regardless of mass.

Here is M being force in the formula F=MA (force = mass x acceleration).

Video of the kids demonstrating the formula.
